Our Values

Our values shape who we are becoming as a church and how we live out our faith together. They guide the way we worship, serve, and relate to one another across every Gracecity location.

We Sit at the Feet of Jesus

Nothing’s more important than life with Jesus. We come hungry to him. We cherish reading and preaching His Word and His leading and empowering Spirit. Without Him, we can do nothing.

We Clothe Ourselves with Grace

As recipients of God’s surprising and relentless grace, we choose to extend His grace to everyone. We treat others with compassion, gentleness, truth and love.

We Invest in the Next

With an eye on the future, we intentionally focus on who is next. We are building a discipling culture and developing emerging leaders. We invest in our children and young people.

We See No Line between Faith and Life

God has placed each of us right where we are. We are all about serving Jesus in every sphere - home, work, study, and church. We intentionally share Jesus with our actions and words.

Everyone Has a Seat at the Table

We are a family from different backgrounds, places, and cultures, building deep friendships with each other. As God generously brought us into His whanau, so we reach out to welcome others to the party.

We’re Part of Something Bigger

We recognise it’s not all about us. What God is doing in the world extends beyond us. We love collaborating with and resourcing others in our city and beyond.

Our Vision

Our vision is to multiply what God is doing among us — extending our faith, influence, and impact so more people and places experience His renewal.

Multiplying Disciples

Everyone at Gracecity is discipling others to Jesus and with Jesus.

Multiplying Groups

Groups at Gracecity are growing and new groups are being formed.

Multiplying Mission

Our local and global impact is increasing through missional community.

Multiplying Locations

Church gatherings are meeting in new locations around our city in response to God’s mission.

Multiplying Leaders

Every leader is developing healthy leaders for the present and the future.

Our Beliefs

Our beliefs outline the key truths of the Christian faith we hold to as a church.

One God

Father, Son and Holy Spirit, creator of all things. Three all-powerful persons in eternal, loving relationship but one God.

God the Father

of all, who is over all, through all and in all.

God the Son

Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of the Father. He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless human life before He died on the cross for our sins, was resurrected, and ascended bodily into Heaven where He intercedes with the Father on our behalf.

God the Holy Spirit

who unites believers with Christ and one another, and indwells all believers. He gifts them with Spiritual gifts and fills, empowers and guides each one to fulfil their calling and function in His mission through words, deeds and miraculous signs.

The Bible

as inspired by the Holy Spirit and written by human authors, and as the supreme authority on all matters of faith and life.

Humanity

as created with intrinsic value and dignity, and made in God’s image to relate to Him and with one another, with the mandate to govern and tend all creation. All human life, from conception to natural death, should be protected and respected.

Sin

as the inherent corruption of all humanity and disobedience towards God. Our relationship with God, with others and with creation was fractured when sin, evil and death entered the world. Sin separates us from God and causes many problems in our lives.

Salvation

as being made right with the Father, received as a free gift of grace that is attainable only through faith in Jesus by the work of the Holy Spirit and not through self-improvement or good works.

The Sanctification

of every believer by participation in the continued saving work of the Holy Spirit, which produces fruit and holiness in the believer, transforming them into Christ’s likeness.

The Church

as Christ’s body on earth, united and empowered by the Spirit to participate in God’s renewal of people and places until Christ’s return.

The Sacraments

of the Lord’s supper and water baptism for believers, and the rite of marriage between one male and one female in lifelong, loving commitment to each other. Marriage is to be the only context for sexual intimacy.

The Return of Jesus Christ

which will bring to fruition the complete renewal of Heaven and Earth, and the resurrection of all people to eternal unity with God or to eternal separation from God.
